Kim Cipolla
Kim Cipolla has been an active SWE member since she was an undergraduate at Bucknell University where she earned a BSME. She also has an MSME and PhD from Lehigh University. Since joining the New England Shoreline Section in 1996, she has been active with the Outreach (formerly Career Guidance) Committee and has served as the Professional Counselor for the Roger Williams University SWE Student Section for seven years. She has been excited about increasing her involvement in the section by serving as President last year and now as Vice President.
Kim is currently the Chief Scientist for the Sensors and Sonar Systems Department at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI and is principal investigator of several research programs involving hydrodynamics and the development of improved towed array sonar systems. Kim is an accomplished dancer and has performed with the Spindle City Ballet in Fall River, MA. She also volunteers regularly and teaches a variety of dog training classes at the Potter League for Animals. When not working, dancing or training dogs, she enjoys gardening and playing with her own dog.
