PRESIDENT
Yadira Gilchrest

Yadira joined SWE-NESS in 2002.  She has been an active member of the EC since joining the section (except for a brief hiatus when she lived in Florida).  She has served as Secretary, Treasurer and is now President.  Yadira has a MS in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Central Florida, Orlando, FL.

Yadira works as an analyst for the Ranges, Engineering and Analysis Department at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division in Newport, RI, where she received the Helen Martha Sternberg Award in 2001.  Her work involves acoustic modeling in support of environmental documentation.

In her spare time, Yadira enjoys gardening, reading and playing with her 4 year old daughter, and two dogs.
