Section Representative
According to the SWE-NESS Section Bylaws, the Section Representative shall:
1) Act as the official contact between the Board of Directors and the Section, and the Region and the Section.
2) Vote for the Section on all matters before the Council of Section Representatives.
3) Attend the annual meeting of the Council of Section Representatives (CSR), or ensure an authorized alternate is able to attend.
4) Attend all Region meetings, or insure an authorized alternate is able to attend.
5) Prepare and submit reports of Section activities as requested by the Board of Directors. (Annual Report to National for Archives).
6) Prepare and submit reports of Section activities as requested by the Region Director (Three (3) Section Reports per year).
7) Report to the Section on matters reported in the minutes of the Board of Directors, Council of Section Representatives, and National Membership meetings.
8) Report to the Section on matters reported in the minutes of any Region meetings.
Additional Duties:
9) Distribute Activity Records to the responsible Activity Coordinator for each Section function. Collect the completed Activity Records and insure all information, including copies of pertinent correspondence, is provided.
10) Prepare yearly budget required to support Section Rep duties.
11) Provide occasional Newsletter article of SWE happenings outside of SWE-NESS, including National, Regional, and other Sections.
12) Maintains and updates Section manual.
13) Recommend involvement in one (1) National Committee.
The Section Representative is an important position within SWE-NESS, with responsibilities which approach and in some cases, exceed those of the President. She is expected to attend the yearly National Convention, and should be prepared to establish and maintain contacts throughout the National organization in order to provide effective representation to NESS. She should consider serving on at least one National Committee during her term, in order to gain a National perspective. The Section Representative is the primary source of contact between the Section and Headquarters.
Time Commitment: Section and Annual Reports: 8-10 hours each. Reviewing incoming information: 4-8 hrs per month. Prep for CSR: 8 hrs and ongoing. Attendance at CSR: 2-3 days at National Convention, last week of June, somewhere in the US, partially sponsored by the section.
