Welcome to the Society of Women Engineers
New England Shoreline Section
The New England Shoreline Section of the Society of Women Engineers is a not-for-profit educational and service organization. SWE-NESS members are pioneers, advocates and mentors who support the professional journey and are impacting the future of engineering and technology.
SWE-NESS members live or work in Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut and we have four collegiate sections: Brown University, Roger Williams University, the Coast Guard Academy and University of Rhode Island.
We are an active group, with regular meetings and ongoing educational programs for youth of all ages. You don’t have to be an engineer or a woman to be active in SWE.

Ocean Spray Plant Tour
Wednesday April 17th, 4:30-6:30pm, Middleborough, MA
SWE New England Shoreline Section and SWE Boston Section are thrilled to invite their members to attend a plant tour with Ocean Spray! Please note, since this tour has a capacity of 20 total attendees from both sections, registration is limited to SWE members. About Ocean Spray’s Middleboro, MA Plant:
With 610,000 square feet of production and storage space on 124 acres, the Middleboro plant is just a short drive from Ocean Spray’s Cooperative Headquarters. Each year this facility, which has operated continually since opening in 1966, produces more than 65 million pounds of dried cranberries and more than 2.2 million gallons of concentrate. It’s the largest cranberry processing facility in the world based on size and barrels handled; in addition, two pilot plants on site develop new and innovative Ocean Spray® products.

Volunteer for a Hands On STEM Workshop
Email Kim at gsworkshops@sweness.org if you are interested.
1. Volunteer needed to lead the workshop in Warwick and schedule the time with the Library. Hopefully this would be someone who attended the training in January. They are looking to do this in the summer on a Thursday or Friday during the day or potentially evenings on Monday-Wednesday. This may turn into a three workshop series.
2. Volunteers needed for the Warwick event as they are looking at having 20 participants.
3. We have eight workshops planned in Connecticut. Kim will be leading these but would like to have one or two volunteers to help. If you have taken training, great, if not this is a good opportunity to see how these workshop go and learn “On the Job”. See the list below and let Kim know if you are interested in helping for any of these.
